PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

JANUARY 1983 – MARCH 1985
SA Transport Services as Assistant Engineer

* Responsibilities: - Structural design and drawing of various concrete and steel structures. - Project management of a railway track maintenance contract on the Sishen-Saldanha railway line. - Feasibility studies which included the planning and preliminary design of a proposed railway connection.
MARCH 1985 – JUNE 1986
WJS van Heerden, Calitz & Hayes Consulting Engineers (Bisho-Ciskei) as Engineer. * Responsibilities: - The design, preparation of drawings and the general contract administration of different projects e.g. general extentions at a factory, additional sewage pipes in an existing residential area and earthworks contracts for new factories. - Involved with the preliminary design and cost estimation of infrastructure for aproposed industrial area. - General reinforced concrete and structural steel design of industrial buildings and contract administration during construction.- Design of a reinforced concrete office building and the supervision of the civil and structural work.


JUNE 1986 – JANUARY 1990
Lecturer in Structural Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch
Finished a Masters Degree in Structural Engineering which included subjects and athesis.


JANUARY 1990 – OCTOBER 1992
